BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
reduce racial and socioeconomic disparities in Minnesota’s K–12 education system
 
SECTION I - PURPOSE
The purpose is to expand teacher diversity, reform school funding and ensure equitable access to academic opportunities
for all students by Giving schools in low-income, high-minority areas resources for teachers, counselors, and materials.
There will be a fund of about 50 million dollars established by the department of education.
 
SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Fewer than 5% of Minnesota's teachers are of color, while over 35% of students are of color.
In 2022 The over all 4 year graduation rate in Minnesota was 88.3 percent for white students compared to 70.4% for
African American students and for Native American students it was just 52.5%
 
 
SECTION III - DEFINITIONS
Disparities:is the condition of being unequal
Socioeconomic: relating to or concerned with the interaction of social and economic factors.
reform: make changes for improvement
 
SECTION IV - FUNDING
Funding shall come from a reallocation of existing education funds and targeted grants from federal education equity
programs.
