BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
Limit the Minnesota governor to two four year terms
 
SECTION I - PURPOSE
The purpose of this bill is to not let Minnesota governors serve unlimited.
 
SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
As of right now 37 US states have governor term limits. Limiting governor term limits makes a governor respect his power
for the time they have it. It benefits the Minnesotan people like this: it allows for change in perspective and policies
throughout leadership giving the people a wider representation.
 
SECTION III - DEFINITIONS
Here are some definitions. Governor: An elected leader of the state of Minnesota. Term: 4 consecutive years of severance
filling office. Elected: When a person is chosen by the majority of the people to represent them.
 
 
SECTION IV - FUNDING
no funding required
 
SECTION V – PENALTIES/ENFORCEMENT
 
Penalty/enforcement: If a candidate has already been elected twice and is running for a third term they will not be
placed on the ballot and will not have a chance of winning office.
 
 
SECTION VI – EFFECTIVE DATE
The enacting day shall be April 6th, 2026.
