BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
designate tater tot hotdish as the official state hotdish of Minnesota.

SECTION I - PURPOSE
Show Minnesota's appreciation for the uniquely midwestern dish that is tater tot hotdish

SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
The current political climate in our country and state is becoming increasingly polarized. In order to combat this, we
need to come together as Minnesotans and unite under something that we can all enjoy: hotdish. Hotdish is a staple in
Minnesotan culture, so it is surprising that the state has not already designated a variant as the Minnesota State
Hotdish. Of the many different variants which Minnesotans enjoy, the one that is most widely known is the tater tot
hotdish, so naturally this is the one that should earn the title. Moreover, the designation of this title will shed
light on the hotdish, perhaps even prompting people of other states to try it out themselves, a hotdish revolution if
you will. Hotdish brings us together, a staple at family gatherings where people from all backgrounds and both sides of
the aisle come together and eat their fill, and a symbol of community, so let’s give it the recognition it deserves.

SECTION III - DEFINITIONS
Hotdish - a regional/midwestern term for a single-dish meal; a casserole
Tater tot hotdish - a hotdish which is topped with a layer of tater tots

SECTION IV - FUNDING
This bill does not require funding.

SECTION V – PENALTIES/ENFORCEMENT
There are no penalties or enforcements necessary.

SECTION VI – EFFECTIVE DATE
