BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
Improve safety features in public buses

SECTION I - PURPOSE
To incorporate safety measures with all public buses which is, adding seat belts, and more exit ways. Also, just making
sure that we don’t get rid of any sets for kids to sit down on.

SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Even though this bill can help our community, some people may disagree with this bill. But I can improve people's
thinking on why they shouldn't disagree on this bill.
First of all, every year around 63,000 to 67,000 bus crashes happen and some of them aren’t that safe, making people's
lives in danger. If we install these new safety/added features to public buses they could intentionally make people 's
crashes 60% more safer and save lives. Second of all, there are many of these articles wanting to make buses safer from
expanding buses to having better protection on buses. Also there are some waiting for set belts and exit areas.

SECTION III - DEFINITIONS

Set belts: We will use seat belts to stop passengers from fast stops, which can be caused from crashes. Our seat belts
are going to be made out of normal material from cars or trucks.
Exit ways: We all know the normal exits of buses which are backdoors, the ceiling door. Well that's not enough, what if
there is a fire there should be an emergency exit window about two of them with those small hammers. And a floor exit
which can only be open with a key.

SECTION IV - FUNDING
When people buy cigarettes or alcohol, the different tax they get when buying that stuff, we will take that money and
save it up to get all this stuff. If you don't think that is enough money just understand that about 24% people drink
alcohol and 80% people smoke.

SECTION V – PENALTIES/ENFORCEMENT
If people do not take this offer we may charge them around 50k-100k dollars.
If we are dealing with intense stuff which is a public bus crashing after not taking the offer we may charge them
higher.

SECTION VI – EFFECTIVE DATE
