BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
Caffeinated beverages shouldn't be sold in schools

SECTION I - PURPOSE
The purpose of this bill is to ban the sale of caffeinated beverages in schools due to their effects on students' health
and behavior

SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Caffeinated beverages being sold in schools play a huge part in one of the highest rising problems within the youth of
our state. Caffeine consumption in the ages 12-18 leads to many health problems that are becoming more and more common
in recent years. Anxiety rates have soared across charts, along with high blood pressure, heart palpitations, and many
other conditions. Schools across Minnesota that sell caffeinated beverages also report higher-than-usual rates of
problems such as mood changes, jitters, and excessive exhaustion. All these problems stem from caffeine consumption.
Removing the sale of these caffeinated beverages in schools will also lead to declines in the problems just stated among
students in Minnesota. In recent years, it has been proven that under the age of 18, caffeine consumption should be 0mg.
Caffeine is a stimulant and when consumed, it raises the risk of numerous serious health problems. These problems aren't
always shown the day after consumption and maybe not even a year after, but in 5 years, there will be visible effects.
Caffeine is a dangerous drug and when not used correctly, it can be a detrimental factor in your health.
