BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
Allow for the Physician Assisted Death of Terminally Ill Patients.
A solution I have found for this problem is to allow terminally ill, mentally competent adults to request a Physician
Assisted Death by sedatives.
SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Allowing a patient to decide when they pass can shorten the suffering for not only the patient but also their family; as
well as allowing the patient to feel in control over their death.
SECTION III - DEFINITIONS
ABV: Alcohol by volume; an ABV of 15% is 30 proof.
Mentally Competent: Mental competency refers to a person's ability to make rational decisions and express themselves.
Reasonable Time Frame: For the purpose of this bill a “reasonable time frame” means within the next 6 months.
E-ciggarettes: For the purpose of this bill e-ciggarettes include nicotine (“Vapes”) and marijuana(“Carts”)
Sedatives: a drug taken for its calming or sleep inducing effect.
There will be a 50% tax on: alcholic beverages above 15% ABV(Alcohol by volume), ciggarettes, cigars, and e-ciggarettes.
SECTION V – PENALTIES/ENFORCEMENT
A physician/doctor can opt out and not preform this assisted suicide. If a doctor has not opted out of this and refuses
to assist they will get a 1-2 month-long suspension of their Medical License and a fine of $100-$200. They will also be
no longer allowed to Medically Assist someone’s death.
SECTION VI – EFFECTIVE DATE
The date this bill will be in place is 1/1/2027.
