BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
Make no-school on Veterans Day
The purpose is to have all schools in Minnesota make a mandatory no-school day on Veterans Day (November 11). Having no
school on this day will allow students to learn about and honor the military and the sacrifices they have made for this
SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Veterans day is a time where people should stop what they're doing and reflect on the true sacrifice, bravery, and
dedication men and women have done for this country. These veterans have risked their lives so that we can be happy and
do the normal things we do each day. But yet most students don't even get the chance to do so because they are stuck in
school the whole day. that is why I am proposing that schools will take one of the existing days students already have
off and replace one of them on November eleventh, Veterans Day. this will also be good because instead of having the day
off being placed on a random Monday or Friday it will be placed on a day with meaning and purpose. I recognize some
schools already have this day off, but not all of them which leaves many students without the chance to celebrate these
true veterans.Having the day off will allow students go spend time with family or served and learn about what these
veterans have gone through. This is not just a bill so students can get the day off of school this is a bill that will
spread awareness to students across Minnesota the honor, bravery, sacrifice, and importance of these veterans and what
