BE IT ENACTED BY THE YOUTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA YOUTH LEGISLATURE –
An act to
Ban practice and competition for competitive extracurriculars on a Sunday.
 
SECTION I - PURPOSE
Purpose- to ban competition and practices for competitive extracurriculars on Sundays.
 
 
SECTION II - JUSTIFICATION
Justification- students shouldn’t be forced to choose between their religion or their standing/performance on the team,
how their presence/absences will effect win/losses of the team, appearances/lack of appearances at state and higher
competitions, and as a result how that may affect scholarships, college admittance, and ultimately, futures.
 
 
SECTION III - DEFINITIONS
Definitions- MSHSL, Minnesota State High School League. Competitive extracurricular, any extracurricular sanctioned by
the MSHL.
 
 
SECTION IV - FUNDING
Funding- not applicable
 
 
SECTION V – PENALTIES/ENFORCEMENT
Penalties/enforcement- any program which schedules an activity on a Sunday will suffer forfeiture of next game
tournament or equivalent to be enforced by the MSHSL repeat offenders to be banned from state and regional tournaments
until the issue is resolved.
 
 
SECTION VI – EFFECTIVE DATE
Effective- 3 months after passage.
